Terrace Waterproofing in Malaga — No Demolition Required

Liquid rubber reinforced with fiberglass mesh. Applied directly over your existing tiles — no demolition, no rubble, fully walkable. The definitive flat roof waterproofing solution for the Costa del Sol.

The problem

Why Do Terraces Fail in Malaga?

The Mediterranean climate puts terraces through extreme punishment. In summer, the surface can reach 70 °C under direct sunlight. In winter, torrential downpours overwhelm drains and find every crack. This thermal swing of over 40 degrees causes constant expansion and contraction that eventually cracks any conventional waterproofing.

If you own property on the Costa del Sol, you may have inherited traditional waterproofing solutions — bitumen felt applied with a blowtorch, or a thin layer of "waterproof paint". These have joints, overlaps and failure points that water always finds. Many property owners in Malaga find themselves trapped in a cycle of patch after patch that never solves the root cause.

Spanish flat-roof construction typically uses baldosín catalán (thin terracotta tiles) laid over a concrete slab. Over time, the grouting deteriorates and water seeps through to the rooms below. Understanding this is key to choosing the right fix.

Our solution

Liquid Rubber + Fiberglass: Reinforced Waterproofing

A seamless, joint-free, elastic and fully walkable membrane applied directly over your existing floor. English communication throughout the entire process.

No demolition, no rubble

We apply the system directly over existing tiles, baldosín catalán or concrete. There is no need to rip up your current floor, saving you time, money and the disruption of a building site.

Extreme elasticity (>400%)

The fiberglass-reinforced rubber acts like an elastic skin that stretches and contracts with the structure without cracking. It withstands the thermal movement typical of the Malaga climate.

Fully walkable

Once cured, your terrace is completely functional again. You can place furniture, hang laundry and walk on it with complete normality — no "keep off" zones.

Seamless, joint-free membrane

Unlike bitumen felt (which has vulnerable overlaps), our system creates a continuous mantle. No joints means no failure points for water to penetrate.

Step by step

Our Waterproofing Process

01
Free technical inspection

We assess gradients, drains, substrate condition and critical points. We explain exactly what your terrace needs — in plain English.

02
Deep cleaning and preparation

We remove mould, dust, grease and remnants of previous treatments. Cracks and loose tiles are repaired.

03
Treatment of critical points

We reinforce drains, expansion joints, skirting areas and wall junctions — the zones responsible for most leaks.

04
Primer + first rubber coat

Penetrating primer for maximum adhesion, followed by a generous first coat of high-density liquid rubber.

05
Fiberglass mesh reinforcement

We embed the fiberglass mesh while the rubber is still fresh. This is the "skeleton" that provides structural strength.

06
Cross-layered sealing coats

2-3 additional coats of rubber applied in alternating directions. The result: a seamless, joint-free, 100% watertight membrane.

Frequently asked questions

About Terrace Waterproofing in Malaga

Can liquid rubber be applied over existing tiles?

Yes — this is one of the biggest advantages. It only requires thorough cleaning and, in some cases, a primer to improve adhesion. We do not need to remove a single tile.

How many coats of rubber are applied?

A minimum of 3 generous coats (sandwich system) to ensure the mesh is fully embedded and the membrane is completely watertight. Additional reinforcement is applied at critical points.

Does it withstand the Malaga sun?

Yes. The liquid rubber we use includes UV stabilisers specifically formulated for southern Spain. We also offer a reflective white finish that reduces your terrace temperature in summer.

How long does the waterproofing last?

A properly applied system on a well-prepared substrate has an estimated lifespan of 5 to 10 years, with minimal maintenance.

Can I choose the finish colour?

Yes. We offer several colours: terracotta red, grey, white and green. White is especially recommended in Malaga for its ability to reflect solar heat and reduce cooling costs.

Do you communicate in English throughout?

Absolutely. From the initial inspection through to handover, we communicate with you in English. No need for a translator — we explain everything clearly so you know exactly what is happening with your property.
